Meet Amberly & Oshalaya, 2023 Youth of the Year Winners

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, youth have the opportunity to compete for Youth of the Year at Club and City levels in three age categories: 10-13, 14-15 (Juniors), and 16-18 (Seniors). Today we are celebrating Amberly and Oshalaya, who are the two winners in the 10-13 category this year!

10-13 Age Group Winner (Group 1): Amberly G.

Amberly has been a Colorado Sports Leadership Academy Club member for two years. Amberly’s favorite programs at the Club are the cooking class and making crafts in the art room with Mrs. Maria C.

“I have always been a shy person, but being here just makes me braver and more confident. I have made many new friends here!”

10-13 Age Group Winner (Group 2): Oshalaya D.

Oshalaya has been a J. Churchill Owen Club member for six years. Oshalaya’s favorite thing to do at the Club is being an Academic Success Peer Leader because she gets to work with kids and help them practice their reading skills.

“I appreciate the Club for what it has offered not only me but others in my community. I feel like the Club has helped me be a better sister, a stronger student, a good friend, a reliable Club member, but most importantly - a good person.”

We are incredibly proud Amberly and Oshalaya, and we can’t wait for you to meet her at our Dreamers & Leaders Gala this April!
