Camila's extraordinary journey at the Club began when she first walked through the doors of Suncor Boys & Girls Club as a timid six-year-old. Over the years, Camila has transformed into a confident, inspiring leader with a zest for life. Her story serves as a testament to the incredible growth and potential that can be unlocked when young individuals are provided with the support, opportunities, and encouragement they need to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new challenges.
A Love for Sports
One of Camila's favorite Club activities is participating in sports, particularly volleyball and soccer. Some of her favorite memories at the Club are from playing against other Boys & Girls Club teams known for their skill and emerging victorious. Camila's shared that participating in soccer at the Club has encouraged her to play for her high school team. Camila’s athleticism doesn’t stop there. Camila was excited to add she is a cheerleader at her high school. For someone who describes herself as shy, this achievement is something to be proud of. Camila shows her strength through her determination and willingness to step out of her comfort zone. Camila's involvement in sports at the Club has opened new doors and provided valuable life lessons.
The Power of Taking Opportunities
One of the most heartwarming aspects of Camila's Club experience is her newfound passion for nurturing and caring for younger members. The Club has instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and the desire to be a role model and friend to all the children she encounters. Camila has participated in our Youth of the Year program and shared that she encourages every younger member to do so as well. Through this opportunity, she gained the confidence and skills to be a leader within the Club’s doors and in the world beyond.
Camila’s story reminds us of the incredible transformations that can occur when a young person is nurtured, supported, and encouraged to step out of their comfort zone. Camila's future is undoubtedly bright, and her story reminds us of the incredible potential that lies within every young person, waiting to be unlocked with the right support and opportunities.
