Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver Announces 2024 City Youth of the Year Winners   

Boys & Girls Clubs Celebrate the Achievements of Exceptional Youth Leaders in 2024  

Denver, CO - March 21, 2024 - Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is thrilled to announce the outstanding winners of the 2024 Youth of the Year program, a program that recognizes the remarkable achievements and potential of Club members who exemplify character, leadership, service, academic excellence, and healthy lifestyles.  

The Youth of the Year program, Boys & Girls Clubs of America's premier leadership and recognition initiative, invites Club members aged 10 to 18 to share their greatest accomplishments and aspirations. Our young leaders from across Metro Denver gathered to showcase their experiences, beliefs, and visions for the future.  

Meet the 2024 Youth of the Year City Winners:  

Senior Youth of the Year Winner: Nashara E  

  • Denver Broncos Club member for eleven years  
  • Nashara has been a beacon of leadership, actively participating in Torch Club, Keystone Club, and community initiatives such as Cherish and RISE. She is the co-project manager for March for Peace, a 5K event that fosters community, peace, and a bright future in the Montbello neighborhood.  

"The lessons learned and the connections made at the Club serve as the sunlight that continues to fuel my growth, ensuring that the confidence within me will bloom into a flourishing future."  

Junior Youth of the Year Winner: Jalonna-Marie G  

  • Denver Broncos Club member for two years  
  • Jalonna-Marie, a Keystone club member, runs a cheer club and has coordinated various events, demonstrating remarkable leadership. She has participated in youth advocacy events in Washington, D.C., engaging with influential figures like Senator John Hickenlooper and Dr. Condoleezza Rice.  

"The Club's impact on me is so strong that I have dedicated all my free time to being there for the people I care about."  

10-13 Age Group Winner (Group 1): David S  

  • Tennyson Knolls Club member for three years  
  • David, a member for three years, values the Club's opportunities and activities, aiming to set a positive example for younger Club members through kindness and consideration.  

"In the Club, I've learned about being kind and considering other people's feelings before you say or do something."  

10-13 Age Group Winner (Group 2): Sir-Adam M  

  • Jack A. Vickers Club member for eight years  
  • Sir-Adam, an eight-year member, celebrates the strong community at the Club, where acceptance and authenticity thrive.  

"The biggest lesson I have learned at the Club is that I am accepted here and it is okay to be me."  

Being selected as a Youth of the Year is the highest honor at Boys & Girls Clubs, with winners earning scholarships at each level of the competition. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Nashara, Jalonna-Marie, David, Sir-Adam, and every Club member who participated. Join us at the 2024 Gala: Infinite Possibilities this April to meet these inspiring young leaders.
