Johnson Boys & Girls Club
The Arthur E. Johnson Club, which serves more than 800 members each year, has a rich history. In 1967, the Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation donated funds to purchase and renovate the building, a former Jewish Community Center. The present location of the Club’s playfield was the original site of the Golda Meir house, which was sold to The Committee To Save Golda’s Home in 1982, and is now located on Denver’s Auraria Higher Education Center campus.
The Johnson Boys & Girls Club continues to address the neighborhood’s ongoing need for quality after school programming for more than 150 kids and teens each day. in 2016, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver was awarded a $10.75 million donation from the Helen K. and Arthur E. Johnson Foundation to support the Johnson Boys & Girls Club. This is the largest gift in the organization’s 54-year history. This significant donation further demonstrates the Johnson Foundation’s investment in the young people in our community and we are proud to honor their incredible legacy.
