Club Member Spotlight: Jeremiah

“It’s fun at the Boys & Girls Club. All the people who work here make me happy.” – Jeremiah, age 10

Every day after school, Jeremiah comes to the Boys & Girls Club, a place where any question is safe to explore.

The staff at the Club not only encourage Jeremiah to voice his emotions but also talk about his hurts and fears. Jeremiah’s father left home due to substance abuse – an event that has impacted Jeremiah’s life to this day, but the staff at the Club have helped him cope. Jeremiah has learned to positively channel his feelings through artistic self-expression and find his voice through interactions with his peers and staff at the Club.

Jeremiah wants to be a video game designer when he grows up, and activities in the Club are helping him develop skills for that career early on. From drawing sketches in the art room to learning about robotics in the STEM Lab, Jeremiah has ample opportunities for discovery. At the Club, he is able to stay actively involved in programs that are interesting and safe. Instead of being on the streets, potentially experimenting with drugs or alcohol, Jeremiah is embracing his sense of wonder.

Your gift today will give children like Jeremiah a place that fosters their curiosity and programs that help them reach their full potential. You can nurture a sense of wonder by providing kids with a safe, supportive environment where they can risk being themselves without any risk at all.
