Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver Hosts Film Screening, Youth Q&A on Bullying Prevention

DENVER – May 20, 2026 - May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to bring urgent attention to the challenges young people are facing every day, including the rising impact of bullying on youth mental health. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is putting youth voices front and center—creating safe, supportive spaces where kids and teens can process their experiences, build confidence, and learn how to stand up for themselves and others. Through its mental health programming, Club members are not only learning about bullying prevention—they’re leading the conversation.

On Wednesday, May 20, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver will host a special screening of Speak Life: End Bullying for Club members, followed by a live Q&A with students, former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons, and the film’s producers. The event offers a unique opportunity for media to hear directly from young people about how bullying affects them—and how they’re working to create change in their communities.

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, supporting kids’ mental health isn’t something we focus on for just one month—it’s core to everything we do. Across our 25 Clubs, our mental health team provides consistent, relationship-based support through in-person one-on-one sessions, and small social-emotional learning groups offered at least twice a week. They work closely with kids to help them name their feelings, navigate challenges, and build healthy coping skills that last far beyond their time at the Club. For more information, visit bgcmd.org.
