Wives of Colorado Professional Sports Teams’ General Managers, Team Presidents & Head Coaches to Raise Money for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s 2025 Holiday Parties
Denver — December 17, 2025 - In 2022, Barb Paton, wife of Denver Broncos General Manager George Paton, launched a community event called the “Holiday Huddle” to raise funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and bring together a group of women whose husbands serve as GMs for Colorado professional sports teams. The Holiday Huddle returns for its fourth year in 2025 and will be taking donations for the 2025 holiday parties at the 25 local Boys and Girls Clubs locations from Monday, November 3 through Tuesday, December 16.
In the three years since its inception, Paton’s Huddle has raised over $23,000 to benefit kids and teens who attend Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, and members of the community group have expanded to a total of 10 women and counting. While team presidents, head coaches and their wives have been participants every year of its existence, 2025 marks the first year it has officially been formed as a group that consists of general managers, team presidents, head coaches and their wives.
“The holiday season is such a special time at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver,” said Erin Porteous, Chief Executive Officer. “We believe every child deserves to feel joy and wonder, and we work hard to make sure our Club kids experience just that. We’re incredibly grateful to Barb and the amazing group of caring women behind the Holiday Huddle. For many of our kids, the gift they receive at these Club parties may be the brightest moment of their holiday season. We take that responsibility to heart.”
Upon her arrival in Denver in 2021, Barb Paton envisioned unifying the general manager’s wives of all of the city’s professional sports organizations in order to serve the Denver community as one and to provide good will and additional resources for area kids who need support, which resulted in the establishment of the Holiday Huddle initiative.
“I am overwhelmed with the generosity and thoughtfulness that we have experienced in the three years of the Holiday Huddle. People’s kindness, giving spirit and servant’s hearts never cease to amaze me, especially when it comes to supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver’s children,” said Paton.
“Seeing the joy on the kiddos’ faces has been so fulfilling, and the youth leaders were the most impressive. The Holiday Huddle melts my heart every year!” said Chandra MacFarland, wife of Colorado Avalanche General Manager, Chris MacFarland.
About the Holiday Huddle
Barb Paton’s Holiday Huddle was one of the manifestations of her vision to unite the wives of Denver’s seven professional sports organizations together with the singular goal of improving the lives of Colorado’s youth. The two universal charitable organizations that her group is devoted to helping are Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and A Precious Child. Both organizations serve and specialize in improving the well-being of children in Denver and the Colorado area.
