HEALTH EDUCATION
Healthy Eating
Through our dynamic partnerships with Banco de Alimentos de las Montañas Rocosas y The GrowHaus, we’re transforming how kids and families experience food. Every kid attending our after-school and summer programs receives a balanced meal, giving them the energy they need to thrive. Our weekly fresh food boxes available at certain Clubs, filled with locally sourced produce, ensure families can access nutritious options right at home.
Our impact doesn’t stop there. Club members experience unique, hands-on experiences like cooking classes, gardening, and field trips to farmers' markets and culinary institutions. These opportunities build a deeper connection to food and nutrition and empower them to build a lifelong connection to healthy eating.
Last year, we provided over 3,000 healthy food boxes, 45,000 pounds of nutritious food, and served nearly 350,000 balanced meals and snacks - fueling brighter futures for our Club members and their families! *

Substance Use Prevention
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver utilizes evidence-based prevention programming that promotes healthy decision-making and equips members with essential life skills to resist substance use.
Our program partners with Boys & Girls Clubs de Metro Denver Mental Health Team to emphasize the development of goal setting, decision-making, and effective communication. These activities deepen Club member’s understanding of the harmful effects of drugs, foster positive peer relationships, and strengthen self-efficacy. Our programming includes role-playing and scenario-based exercises to build confidence in addressing these critical topics with peers, family members, or community members.
We aim to empower Club members to take proactive steps in preventing substance misuse and supporting those at risk.
Healthy Relationships
Our comprehensive programming is designed to equip young people with accurate information and skills for making informed decisions about their health. Rooted in the principles of inclusivity, consent, and equity, our evidence-based curricula emphasize the rights of individuals to make their own choices, the respect for others' boundaries and identities, and the responsibility to engage in healthy relationships and behaviors. We cover a wide range of topics, including puberty, relationships, consent, and sexual and reproductive health, promoting safe and respectful interactions.
