Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver to Connect Families with Critical Community Resources<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Denver, CO - May 1, 2024<\/span><\/b> - Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is thrilled to announce its Health Resource Fair for the second consecutive year. Dedicated to bridging the gap between available resources and community members in need, the event aims to provide crucial access and education to families in the Denver area. <\/span>With 91% of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver members qualifying for free or reduced lunch<\/span><\/b>, this event focuses on opening doors to critical resources that will promote health equity.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many qualified families within Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver\u2019s community do not know all the resources that are available to them.<\/span><\/b> Based on self-reported data, only 36% of Club families reported being on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), 10% utilize WIC (<\/span>Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), and 50% use Medicaid.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver\u2019s 2024 Health Resource Fair is an exciting and free opportunity open to the public, centered around health equity, which is scheduled to take place on <\/span>May 18, 2024, from 1 \u2013 5 p.m. at the<\/span><\/b> J. Churchill Owen Boys & Girls Club<\/span><\/b><\/a>. Families are invited to attend and connect with essential resources and services in the community. <\/span>The first 300 attendees will receive a free meal along with access to an array of health resources.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver often serve families that live in communities where access to housing, healthy food, and basic resources is inconsistent. <\/span>\u201cWe know our Club families trust us and are likely to trust the community resources we share with them,\u201d<\/span><\/b> said Rebecca Duran, Director of Healthy Lifestyles.<\/span> This commitment to healthy equity and trust led to the creation of this community event.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fair will feature over 20 partners, including<\/span><\/b> Denver Human Services<\/span><\/b><\/a>,<\/span><\/b> Servicios de la Raza<\/span><\/b><\/a>,<\/span><\/b> Denver Parks & Recreation<\/span><\/b><\/a>,<\/span><\/b> WellPower<\/span><\/b><\/a>,<\/span><\/b> Public Health Institute at Denver Health<\/span><\/b><\/a>,<\/span><\/b> Judi\u2019s House<\/span><\/b><\/a>,<\/span><\/b> Sticky Fingers<\/span><\/b><\/a>, and<\/span><\/b> Ardent Grove<\/span><\/b><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Essential services will be available, including <\/span>Flu & COVID vaccines, cholesterol testing, Medicaid enrollment, and other public benefits enrollment. <\/span><\/b>In addition, attendees can participate in engaging activities such as <\/span>Zumba classes, Native American Dance demonstrations, dancing with a DJ, and a climbing wall. Hourly giveaways include King Soopers gift cards, kids bikes, scooters, and more!<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
