BGCMD Board Update

Summer of Fun

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is putting the fun back into summer for kids across our city! We are offering summer programs and partnering with other community organizations to truly make this a summer to remember for our Club kids. Enjoy this special Summer of Fun Board Update highlighting a few of our Clubs’ recent field trips.

Dinosaurs Bones in Our Own Backyard

Thirteen kids from the Suncor Boys & Girls Club experienced a day full of fun, exploration and education at Dinosaur Ridge, just outside suburban Denver. Club members were taken back in geological time, traveling back 100 million to 150 million years along the Dinosaur Ridge Trail in Morrison, where they learned about the lives and deaths of dinosaurs through their tracks and fossils.

Exploring the Natural World of Science at the Museum

A group of young members from the Cope Boys & Girls Club recently took a field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science where they explored a variety of exhibitions, from black holes to dinosaur fossils and sparkling gems. The kids’ imaginations ran wild as they spent the afternoon visiting the interactive wonders at the museum. Afterward, they wrapped up their kid-tastic adventure by cooling off from the summer heat on the splash pad.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors at Lincoln Hills

On Tuesday, 15 kids from the Owen Boys & Girls Club took buses up to the mountains to spend a day at the gorgeous Lincoln Hills property. While there, they had an opportunity to go fly fishing and learn about the unique animals that live in streams while discussing stream ecology, as well as our friendly (and not so friendly) neighbors in the woods – moose, bears and mountain lions! It was a beautiful day, and everyone returned to the Club happy and tired.

Our mission is to provide our Club members with a safe, supportive, fun and enriching environment that inspires and empowers them to achieve their greatest potential.
