This fall, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver opened four new Boys & Girls Clubs in partnership with Aurora Public Schools. New Clubs opened at Laredo Elementary, Virginia Court Elementary and Altura Elementary on Aug. 19, and another Club opened at Montview Math & Health Sciences Elementary after renovations were completed at the school on Sept. 3.
The new afterschool programs are thriving so far and we project 400 kids per day will attend this school year, with growth expected in the future.
“It feels great to be a part of this extended reach and helping so many families that need afterschool programming,” said Steven Montoya, Club Director at the Virginia Court Boys & Girls Club. “We serve 75 to 85 kids every day at the Virginia Court Club, and they all have their own personalities and identities. We serve a diverse community and we want to show everybody that no matter where you come from, the Boys & Girls Club is a place for you.”
Last school year, the first Boys & Girls Club in Aurora Public Schools opened at Boston P-8 School.
“Our growing partnership with Aurora Public Schools is an opportunity to provide a second home to more than four hundred kids each day who deserve the life-changing programs found at a Boys & Girls Club,” said Erin Porteous, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.
