Eleventh annual Hoops for Peace event hosted at Boys & Girls Club

WHO:  Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver Club members, the Denver Nuggets, KS107.5, local law enforcement, and community members

WHAT:  11th Annual Hoops for Peace – This Saturday, July 21, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver will host the 11th annual “Hoops for Peace” event at the Cope Boys & Girls Club in central Denver. Hoops for Peace brings together local law enforcement and youth in the community for a friendly game of basketball, plus a range of other festivities. This event is part of Building Bridges Through Basketball – an NBA initiative to use basketball to bring people together and deepen important bonds of trust among youth, mentors, community leaders and law enforcement.

The event will take place from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm and hopes to build positive relationships between police and the community. The Denver Nuggets drumline and retired NBA players Ervin Johnson and Walter Davis will attend the event. Hoops for Peace will also feature carnival games, free food including pizza donated by Papa John’s, music and a brief awards ceremony. This free event is open to the public.
